The Indian government’s lockdown is especially hard on poor migrant workers and day laborers from slums and villages who are so poor that if they don’t work their families don’t eat. They are living from hand-to-mouth and they are facing starvation as a result of the ongoing pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

It is therefore critical that we provide food rations now for families facing starvation in the slums and rural villages where SevaChild has been serving for years. We have boots on the ground in seven of the hardest-hit states and thousands of these families have already received rations through our network of partnering humanitarian organizations and your generous donations.

Examples of what is in the kit are rice, flour, sugar, tealeaf, spices, oatmeal, sanitary pads, hand sanitizer, masks, and instructional flyer on how to make a do-it-yourself mask.
